Slop Meet

0

I have a ’68 Coronet, 318, 72K. It is 100%
original. The steering was very sloppy, I
found that the pitman arm small-end nut
was loose allowing the stud to wobble.
Tightening that helped a lot, and everything
else underneath seems tight, but
the steering still has several inches of
play. How can I fix this?

Most likely culprit is the steering box itself.
This is easily checked (and sometimes
repaired) but requires two people. See
photos below for the step-by-step check
and adjustment procedure.
