Fan Plan

I have a rebuilt 440 that came out of a 1967 Chrysler 300.
It originally had a clutch fan on it, which
is in the attached picture [*, ed.]. The
fan seems to be integral with the water
pump. I can’t for the life of me figure out
how to disassemble it. Before I pulled

the engine from the Chrysler, the fan and
water pump worked fine. My question is,
would this be a good fan to use on the
rebuilt engine, or are there better options?

From the pix, I can see that the clutch
isn’t original, which may or may not be a
bad thing. As long as it is good (requires
significant torque to rotate and has minimal
wobble/slop), sure, use it, ditto for the
fan, as long as it isn’t bent.
The clutch hub has simply corroded
onto the water pump’s nose. Just pry it
off, between the clutch hub and the water
pump pulley. Do not try to remove it by
yanking on the blades. This would have
been easier with the water pump still
bolted up.
