Signals Crossed?

I recently bought a 1968 Coronet 500, 383.It is a reasonable-condition survivor
with only 72K on the clock, which
appears accurate.
My question pertains to the blinkers.
My 1969 Road Runner, which I owned
from 1972 to 1980 (never should have
sold it, as I’m sure you hear all the time)
had the type of switch that either clicked
into position or didn’t there was no in between.
This ’68 has a setup, like newer
cars, that lets you hold the switch partway
and have the signals flash until you
let go. Why does this ’68 have this but my
’69 did not?

No pre-1970 Mopars had this feature,
called lane change turn signals when
they left the factory. Why, then, does your
’68? Simple. As some point in it’s life the
switch was replaced with a new, genuine
Mopar switch. All late-’60s switches supplied
by Mopar after about 1971 had this
feature, which is very handy.
