Sneak Peek: Rampage Compact Pickup
Ram hasn’t offered anything smaller than a full-size pickup since the Dakota was dropped in 2011. But that may be changing. Stellantis has taken note of Ford’s hot-selling Maverick compact pickup and sees a market here. They are already developing a compact pickup for South America, and even have a name for it—Rampage. Sound familiar? Dodge offered a compact unibody front-drive in the ‘80s which some builders today go to as the platform for some wild hot rods.
Sources tell us that PaMopar intends to offer a compact Rampage to the US market and will debut their small truck later this year. Details are sketchy at this juncture, but drivetrains could range from a hybrid electric to the 2.0-liter Hurricane turbo 4 with a ZF 9-speed tranny to a 2.2 turbodiesel.
Stay tuned for details.
