Bump It Out

0

Just finishing up restoring
my first car that I bought
in 1977—a 1968 Barracuda

340 fastback. I want to install a set of NOS
bumperettes in the bumpers that weren’t
originally equipped with them. None of
these cars exist in my area to size up. I’ve
seen the factory diagrams you’ve posted for
stripe locations etc. This is a long shot but,
would you have any info on where the holes
are drilled? I’d like to do this correctly.

Unfortunately, I have no A-body factory
assembly drawings, and, anyway, the bumper
for use with guards was a different P/N,
punched before plating, so the dimension
would be on the part’s blueprint only. You
can, however, just make a template out of
heavy paper and transfer the location from
the guard to the bumper. After drilling, coat
the inside of the hole (the raw steel) with
plenty of zinc-rich primer.
