What Cars Have Dana Rears

Tech Question

Hi Rick, I am repowering my 68 Coronet and need to knowwhat other cars I can get a Dana rear end from. Local bone yards are full of70’s trucks and full size 4drs, please help. Thank you

Vince, only one from a 70-down B-body will bolt in.

Ones from other Mopar passcars (71-up B, all E-body) will need to benarrowed. Ones from a truck, any brand, will need to be narrowed, and haveMopar “ends” installed to ditch the truck floating-axle setup, 8 lugs, and50-pound drums. Even if you do that, truck Dana 60s never had provisions fora pinion snubber, so you’d be locked into a different system for springwindup control (Caltracs, etc.) and require new axles for sure.

To my mind, unless you luck onto a $300 bolt-in used setup, the best bet isto simply order a new one from Strange Engineering. When you look at all thefactors above, the S60 is quite cost-competetive. It has all the rightstuff, any ratio, all new, trouble-free.

Rick
