(Translated from the Polish by Mel Coznowski, Harris Pub & Co. night janitor)Woodward Ave. in Detroit. Once the haunt of street-racing factory engineers and late-night money runs, it’s now just your usual metropolitan, traffic-choked thoroughfare. Times have certainly changed. But once a year, Woodward plays host to its Dream Cruise—arguable the world’s biggest and best rolling car show. Anything and everything on wheels can show up. Expect the unexpected.

Like everything else, this one-time spontaneous, off-the-cuff event has grown to ginormous proportions. And, as such, has attracted sponsors, exhibition displays, and other assorted promotional endeavors. Next year, we even anticipate bringing the world famous Mopar Action invertebrate petting zoo to the Cruise. Also, Rick Ehrenberg will be on hand in our booth to guess your weight (within 175 pounds).

Be that as it may, the Dream Cruise is something to see to be believed. This year, some 40,000 vehicles participated, and they were viewed by some 1.4 million spectators.

We had our MA photographer hang out on a street corner and shoot some of the Mopars that rolled on by. We edited out the Chevys, Fords and Yugos. You can write your own captions for these pix, so consider this to be an interactive web site. Or, if you don’t want to bother, just watch the cars roll by, as fast as you can click your mouse. This, of course, is just a small sample of what you would have seen had you attended the Cruise yourself. ‘Course there’s always next year. Or the year after that.
