Tech Question

ed clemens

Rick, I know you are busy, so I'll try and be quick. I'm building a 426 Hemi: New MP block; steel 440 crank; Manley sportsman rods; MP 10:25 to 1 pistons; factory steel "thin" harmonic balancer off steel crank 440; auto trans. The question: Should I spend $150 for balancing or are the rods/pistons close enough to factory weight for a street engine?

Ed-

Balancing is usually money well spent, even with all stock parts. But, especially with rods that are of totally unknown weight, I'd say it's very nearly mandatory. Even for a street engine.

Rick
