Tech QuestionTom Crews, St Peters, MO , 1967 Plymouth Barracuda 383 What is the scoop on the Green bearings for the 8-3/4 rear axles? I read in the mags that these are "drag-race only" and not for street use. But I see them advertised every where and the replacement axles only work with these bearings. I have a '67 cuda that I have an A-body 8-3/4 rearend for and want to convert to the 5 lug on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern using the standard axle bearings. Where can I get such an animal? Keep up the great work! Thanks Tom C The ball-type conversion bearing are short lived in street use and especially not recommended in cornering applications - they have a small faction of the load rating as the stock Timkens. You can either buy some purpose-built axles (Moser, Yukon, etc.) or have a pair of C-body axles shortened, then use stock Timkens, properly packed with grease and adjusted. This is 100,000-mile-plus durability stuff. Rick
