raymond ward, washington, PA, 1959 desoto firesweep sportsman 361
hi rick. i have recently purchased a 1959 desoto 2 dr with a 361 2-bbl in pretty nice shape. runs and drives great. my question is should i use detergent oil? the previous owner owned the car from 1968-2010 and he told me he used 30 non detergent. opinions on this vary and i would like to know what you think.

Absolutely, positively detergent, as in ANY engine with a full-flow filter. Always. Only. You might consider running a can of sludge flush through it just before you change the oil.
