Tech QuestionDave Darke, Cambridge, ON Canada, 1973 Plymouth Barracuda 340 I started up my car for the first time since the winter months and it seems that I now have a ticking sound like a sticking lifter. Dave- Lifter noise does not vary with load or throttle angle, an exhaust leak does. Sickly lifters can sometimes be freed up with an additive (Marvel Mystery Oil, etc.) A single-cyl exhaust leak, however (broken stud in head, warped manifold, etc.) requires actual wrench-twisting.
