Tech Question

Ken Ramaley, Pittsburgh PA, 1966 Dodge Coronet 440, 383

Rick: I'm interested in a 66 Dodge Coronet 440 with a "matching numbers" 383 ci which is listed on the internet. I know how to check numbers on 68-up Mopars, but don't know what is "matching" on 67-down. Where on the car would these numbers be besides the engine and trans.?

Ken, there's no VIN anywhere on the drivetrain prior to M.Y. 1968. So only the block pour date, and the engine numbers ("B" for 1966), etc, need be correct. No way on earth to prove - or disprove - that it's original.

Of course, the data plate should agree with the equipment on the car, the carb and distributor numbers and date, manifold casting numbers, etc., should be correct.

Rick
