I am changing my auto transmission to a 4 speed. Ipurchased a long shaft rear mount 833 which turned out to be an overdriveunit, even though it has a cast iron case. I’m wondering if this trannywill handle a 340 with 325 horse. Can you convert this tranny to a regulargear set or put in the gear set from a b-body tranny? Thanks for yourexpertise and advice.
Craig, it will handle that HP and torque level easily – it’s just as strongas any other 23-spline A-833. And, yes, you can swap internals. But first,why not consider using it as-is? With, say, a 3.55 gear, this might turn outto be a pretty nice combination.
