Tech QuestionRon Gaul, Longmont, CO, 1971 Dodge Challenger 340 I was told when replacing the driveshaft in a 1971 Challenger, that I would have to reset the pinon preload. Is this true, and if so, why? Thank you, Ron Ron, this is NOT true. That caveat only applies if you swap the pinion yoke (flange) on crush-sleeve type axles. Even then, you just measure the turning torque and make sure it remains unchanged when you swap on the new yoke (or pinion seal, etc). Rick
